Scout Programs
“I spent six weeks at the Schiff Scout Reservation back in 1984 attending the 260 District Scout Executive Training Program. It was a wonderful experience and I will never forget it!” – R. Long

A Rich History in Scouting
For more than 45 years, Schiff served as the Boy Scouts of America’s national Boy Scout Training Camp (1933 – 1979). Today, Schiff Natural Lands Trust embraces its rich scouting history and works with individual scouts and groups to fulfill badge requirements and provide service and award opportunities to Scouts of all ages.
Schiff Nature Preserve is an ideal location for exploring scouting concepts rooted in ecology, environmental science, and the natural world. All programs include hands-on activities, games, and trail hikes.

Scout Badge Programs
In fulfillment of our commitment to our heritage and support of Scouts, Schiff Natural Lands Trust is pleased to offer the Scout Badge Program. Our environmental educators have developed a variety of nature related programs specifically designed to fulfill all or part of several Boy Scout and Girl Scout badge requirements.
Programmatic content has been tailored to take advantage of the biodiversity, wildlife, and terrain of the Schiff Nature Preserve.
Rates: $90 for Schiff members ($100 for non-members) for the first 8 scouts, $8 for Schiff members ($10 for non-members) per additional scout, with a limit of 15 scouts. Programs are 90 minutes long. Troop leaders and adult chaperones are free, siblings are welcome and must be supervised by adult chaperones, are not to participate in the program unless paid for and included in the program’s 15 person limit.
Dates/times: Our educators are typically available to schedule these programs on weekday afternoons and on weekends. “Rain dates” are established when requesting dates/times.
Cancellations: Cancellations and rescheduling requests must be communicated to programsandspecialevents@
*In the event of severe weather such as snow/ice storms, thunderstorms, and heavy winds, Schiff reserves the right to cancel your program and follow through with rescheduling if a rain date has not already been established.
What to Bring: Guests should come dressed appropriately for the weather of the season, wearing closed- toed shoes, and be prepared to enjoy the outdoors rain or shine. We advise each guest to bring their own water bottle.
Badges: Schiff Natural Lands Trust is not responsible for the purchase or delivery of accompanying badges to affix to Troop member attire. Scout Troop leaders are responsible to secure the Badges upon completion of the Badge requirements.
Interested Scout leaders are to contact our programs and special events coordinator at programsandspecialevents@
