Thank you to all of our Business Partners for a Greener Community who support Schiff Natural Lands Trust's mission. Financial, in kind, and volunteer support from our business partners is so vital for a small non-profit. BPGC donations help us serve as good stewards of these natural lands, protect the air and water quality, and preserve the native plant and wildlife habitats for generations to come. With your business support, we conduct prescribed burns, repair storm damage, and keep our trails clear for hikers, runners, dog walkers, horseback riders and others who enjoy spending time outdoors while offering a calendar of educational and passive recreational activities.
Sponsors of our signature fundraising events (Farm to Table Benefit Dinner and The Environmental Film Festival) are acknowledged here as our newest additions to the Business Partners for a Greener Community program. We thank all of our supporters and hope you will visit their websites by clicking the business logos below and thank them for their partnership with Schiff when visiting their establishment.
Studies show that employees prefer to work for companies invested in charitable causes, especially when they are local. Schiff's Volunteer Workdays are a terrific way to meet that need at a relatively low cost, and provide many benefits:
For additional information on the benefits of volunteerism for employers and employees, take a look at this in-depth article from America’s Charities or this one from Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
At any of our 5 giving levels, you will enjoy knowing that your donation dollars and/or employee volunteer efforts are working locally to support this treasured natural resource.
To become a Business Partner for a Greener Community, simply download our brochure here , complete the form and return it to us with your payment. Our Executive Director, Dorian von Aulock will reach out to arrange delivery of benefits and to schedule your Volunteer Workday.
Do our employees need prior landscaping or construction experience?
No, but much of the work we do does require walking for long distances on uneven terrain, lifting of 30 pounds or more, the use of hand tools and wheel barrels, and shovels/rakes.
How should we dress?
Please come dressed in weather appropriate clothes and wear hard toed shoes. It is recommended that you apply sunscreen and insect repellent of your choice.
How do we protect ourselves against ticks?
We highly recommend that our visitors and volunteers follow the standard safety precautions as outlined by the CDC on their website (click here).
Do our employees need to bring their own tools or gloves?
No, we will provide both. If you prefer your own gloves, feel free to bring them.
Are there bathrooms?
Our bathrooms are located in our Nature Center in the main parking area. Depending on the location of the project, the bathroom could be a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive.
Should we bring water and food?
Please bring refillable water bottles. We will provide water. Depending on the time of day, you may want to bring snacks for the group.
Are we going to play any team building games?
We do not facilitate team building games, but you are welcome to do so. We feel that the time spent working together will provide you with a high quality team building experience. See this article from the Help Guide for more.
How can we continue to support Schiff once we leave?
We welcome your continued participation in several ways: individuals may join as a member, become a donor, or continue to a volunteer on the preserve. We also encourage volunteers to come back with friends and family to hike our trials and enjoy our range of programs.
